Benefits of Amla (Indian goose berry)

We come across various disorders in our day-to-day life. A solution to such problems is found in our surrounding environment. One of it is Indian gooseberry(amla) it is obtained from a tree which is found in the 1500m area of India. This fruit is round in shape, light green in color, weighing about 50 to 60 gm. It contains one dark greened color seed. It is found in the season from October to February.

According to study it has been seen that amla has antioxidant property. Being antioxidant it can be used to treat hazardous diseases such as cancer. Other than that it also works as an anti-inflammatory, antipyretic agent.

Amla is the fruit of the plant Emblica Officinalis height of the plant is 8 to 10m. It contains gallic acid, tannic acid, albumin, cellulose, calcium, etc. Amla is rich in vitamin c.

We should know the benefits of this fruit in various disorders. It is used in skin disorders, hair disorders, abdominal disorders, liver disorders, blood disorders, eye disorders, etc

Systemic uses

G.I system: –

  • Useful on constipation, anorexia, liver disorders, loss of appetite
  • Its beneficial on motion sickness, vomiting
  • It is beneficial for ascites, piles

Circulatory system: –

  • It can be used to cure chronic fever
  • The medicated ghee with amla is useful in fever
  • It helps in the circulation of blood and rejuvenates skin
  • It’s helpful in bleeding disorders as its rich source of vitamin C
  • Many skin disorders are cured by local as well as systemic consumption of medicines prepared from amla

  • Juice of amla and sugarcane juice is useful in dysuria.
  • In diabetes, the combination of amla juice, turmeric powder and honey is beneficial.
  • It is used in vomiting.

Amla as an antiagingagent

It is systemically absorbed and circulated through various systems of the body. Metabolism is improved. Useful agents are preserved while as toxic agents are eliminated. It increases appetite. And being a rich source of vitamin C increases immunity, prevents wrinkling of skin, premature graying of hairs, improves skin texture. Thus, it useful as an antiageing agent.
