Ideas & Inspiration for Redecorating Your Child’s Bedroom

Newstricky| If you have spent the last few years during the enforced lockdown of the pandemic picking apart the current design and associated decor of your home now, with most of the restrictions finally lifted, is the time to start putting your redecorating plans and ideas into definitive action.

One room that is gratefully received after the completion of new décor, as well as a space that is incredibly fun to plan and design, is that of the room belonging to your child or children.

With this in mind, continue reading to discover some fabulous ideas and inspiration for redecorating your child’s bedroom.

Woodland Retreat

A beautiful and truly spectacular way to simultaneously make the bedroom both immersive and exciting, as well as transforming it into a relaxing and calming space for both you and your child, is to turn the room into a woodland retreat.

Choose images of woodland animals for the wall art and a leafy green print for the duvet and bedding, and if you want to go all out and embrace the woodland theme, opt for a carpet that is made to appear as if it is grass.

Unicorn Kingdom

For children everywhere, there is no creature more magical and fantastical than a unicorn, so if your child is one of those who absolutely adore anything that is unicorn-related, then head to the high street or else check out the myriad of online stores to shop unicorn gifts and toys galore.

Consider painting the walls in a crisp white and then paint or choose wall stickers of rainbows in various sizes to frame the tops of the walls for the ultimate unicorn kingdom for your child to sleep in every night.

Around the World

If you and your family have been fortunate enough to have traveled to one or more countries and your child has already experienced a different country and an entirely different culture, then why not incorporate the country they loved into their new bedroom design.

Alternatively, embrace the whole around the world theme with atlas bedding, a large globe as the centerpiece for the desk, and wall art depicting the different animals found on the seven different continents.

At the Circus

It is unlikely, although admittedly not entirely impossible, that you and your children have been able to visit anything that even remotely resembles a circus over the past few years or more.

Then, what better way to surround your child with circus memorabilia and animals than to decorate their bedroom and make them the ringleader in their very own circus. Such an idea is far easier to enact than you may think, especially if you start with painting the originally washed white ceiling with red stripes heading into the center. Source some small cages on the walls for shelving and place miniature versions of circus animal soft toys in each, choosing contrasting yellow bedding, cushions, and throws.

On Safari

As animals, especially wild animals, are so incredibly popular with children, and in fairness, most people, regardless of age, another fabulous animal-themed idea to decorate your child’s bedroom is along a safari theme.

If you are looking at a more stylish way to decorate the space but still in keeping with a safari theme, then make bold statements with tropical or savannah-inspired wallpaper but keep the furniture and bedding in a more neutral tone. Accessorize with wild animal print throws and cushions and stuffed toys but try and keep the colors of such home décor items of a similar tone and style.

Under the Ocean

Naturally, when looking to redecorate your child’s bedroom along an ocean theme, the color blue and all its tones and shades are certainly the way to go.

Choose a darker blue shade for the carpet, perfect for both representing the ocean as well as hiding spills and stains a lot better than a carpet in a lighter shade. If you or a close friend or family member is particularly skilled with a paintbrush, then a mural featuring a wide range of different sea creatures would be incredible.

Choose dusty grey wicker baskets to store your child’s toys and games, and if your child is of a younger age, a Little Mermaid-themed bedspread and pillow set will complete the aesthetic.
